"The Little Mermaid" TANYS Adjudication
On March 8th and 9th Fabius-Pompey students entertained our community with three delightful performances of The Little Mermaid A hard-working team of 6-12 grade technical theatre students “made the magic happen” on stage, while our performers brought this beautiful fairy tale to life. Parents, community members, and Fabius-Pompey faculty helped to build sets, create costumes and props, work backstage, play in the pit orchestra, and prepare food to support our students’ efforts. This remarkable team effort not only produced three wonderful shows, but also helped our students grow, learn, and have great fun working together.
A professional adjudicator from the Theatre Association of New York State (TANYS) came to watch a rehearsal of The Little Mermaid. He then gave the cast, crew, and creative team constructive feedback to help them develop their skills further. He was impressed with the way the entire cast and crew worked together and the ways they supported each other to tell this delightful story. Our cast, crew, and production team learned a great deal from the adjudication process and were granted six special awards in recognition of their work.
- The Entire Cast was honored with a Meritorious Achievement Award in Performance
- Lauren Puente received a Meritorious Achievement Award in Choreography
- Ray Sturge and the Orchestra received an award of Excellence in Musical Performance.
- An Award of Excellence in Playbill Design was given to Michael Curtis and Susan Schoonmaker
- Kristin Palazzoli received an award for Excellence in Costume Design and Execution.
- An award for Excellence in Direction was given to Susan Schoonmaker
