New York State Leadership Conference & Skills Championships

Syracuse, N.Y. — More than 2,600 students from 83 trade and technical schools from around New York converged on the state Fairgrounds last week for the NYS Leadership Conference and Skills Championships.

The statewide event, which featured 88 trade and leadership contests, was hosted by the New York Association of SkillsUSA from Wednesday through Friday. Over $250,000 in scholarships and tools were awarded to student winners at a ceremony on Friday.

Nine of the 48 competitors from 17 school districts represented by OCM BOCES placed in the top three of their respective events. The events were geared toward the areas of automotive technology, carpentry, cosmetology, culinary arts, electronics repair, health care and more.

Local medalists included Emma Kadlubowski who took 3rd place in Basic Health Care.  Also competing for Fabius-Pompey was Eliza Taubman in Esthetics.  Congratulations to both Emma and Eliza for their hard work!
