October Senior Student of the Month
 
Rammi Hanai has been chosen as Fabius-Pompey’s Senior Student of the Month for the month of October. Rammi is a wonderful student and an active member of the arts community here at Fabius-Pompey. He has been an enthusiastic member of our band and technical theatre club throughout his high school career. This year, he also made his debut on stage as the lead in the fall production of “Fools” by Neil Simon. Despite it being his first time on stage, Rammi won a TANYS Meritorious Achievement Award in Acting for his portrayal of Leon Tolchinsky. Rammi is also a member of the FP Varsity Track & Field team, a founding member of a new improvisational theatre group, and Vice President of the senior class. His work in band, technical theatre, literary magazine, and as a scholar athlete have all earned him accolades over the years.
 
Rammi’s favorite high school courses have been Earth Science and band. He has enjoyed the consistency, group goal setting, and (of course) the trips that band has given him throughout his high school career the most. Many of his teachers noted his positivity, kindness, and integrity as reasons he was deserving of this award. “I know when I was younger, it mattered a lot to me what older kids said, so I try to reach out to the younger students as much as I can. Being a junior or a senior, you have a lot of power over the school climate, so I just try to make my impact positive,” he said. Rammi has not yet decided where he will be attending college next year, but he is hoping to pursue a degree in environmental sciences and plans to find a school where he can continue to be involved in theatre, both behind the scenes and on stage.
